We are a non-profit organization that works to strengthen the social role of the Nicaraguan migrant population as well as the population of the border region.
Cenderos is a non-profit organization founded on 8th June 2001 by a group of Nicaraguan migrant women. The current president of Cenderos is Adilia Eva Solís. As a social organization, Cenderos addresses the lack of opportunity and the grave problems of economic, social, educational, labor and cultural integration faced by migrant populations in Costa Rica and those living at the borders. Often, the country of origin and the country that receives migrants lack proper migratory public policy, which places a huge responsibility on the migrant population to confront these migration issues by themselves. This problem is lived differently by men and women with the latter affected the most. Because migration creates gender inequality and difficulties, our goal is to improve the quality of life of Nicaraguan migrants. Cenderos recognizes the difference in need between genders. Therefore, our primary objective is empowering Nicaraguan women and girls who are vulnerable to domestic violence. We also provide our services to children, adolescents and male Nicaraguan migrants.
We are a non-profit organization that works to strengthen the social role of the Nicaraguan migrant population as well as the population of the border region. We focus especially on the empowerment of women and youths to build a fair society including gender equality.
